10th Annual Talgarth Walking Festival Wraps Up with Heartfelt Thanks and an Invitation to Shape Future Events
The festival kicked off with an inspiring opening evening talk by Ben Rawlence, co-founder and CEO of Black Mountain College, offering insights into the resilience to climate change and the importance of land-based learning. The following days were filled with guided walks, where participants immersed themselves in captivating stories and breathtaking scenery. This was so impressive with the glorious sunshine that remained over most of the weekend.
As the trails settle and the echoes of footsteps fade, the 10th Annual Talgarth Walking Festival bids farewell with a heartfelt thank you to all participants, volunteers and community members who made this milestone event a resounding success.
From 3rd to 6th May 2024, walkers from near and far converged upon the enchanting Black Mountains and the Bannau Brycheiniog National Park for a three-day celebration of nature, exploration and community. Amidst breathtaking landscapes and rich cultural history, participants embarked on 23 expertly guided walks, each a unique journey through the heart of Wales' natural beauty.
"Our festival wouldn't be possible without the unwavering support of our participants, volunteers, and community," said Havard Prosser, Festival Chair. "Your enthusiasm, dedication, and spirit have transformed this event into a cherished tradition."
As the festival draws to a close, organisers extend a warm invitation to all to attend the Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Tuesday, 11th June 2024, at 7:00pm, hosted at the Talgarth Football Club. This meeting offers an opportunity for community members to provide feedback, share ideas and play a vital role in shaping future festivals.
On Saturday night, the festivities continued with a spirited Ceilidh dance, where participants and community members came together to celebrate the joy of walking and camaraderie.
Sunday reached new heights with the exhilarating Talgarth Fell Race, where participants embraced the challenge of traversing the rugged terrain of the Talgarth hills. The route offered a thrilling test of endurance and determination, culminating in a triumphant finish back in Talgarth with residents and supporters cheering them in.
